"Bricco Giubellini is easily the most exciting young Barolo producer I have tasted for some time." Antonio Galloni
Established in 2000, Bricco Giubellini is the highest vineyard in Monforte
d'Alba at 530 metres and the smallest single vineyard at just 0.33 hectares. The
wines, made by our friend Fabio Fantino from Conterno Fantino, have until
recently only been available locally - locally, as in the village of Monforte!
The vineyard is West facing and planted on clayey, calcareous, marly soil. 530
meters is considered the upper limit for Nebbiolo in Barolo, but as the vintages
get warmer the freshness and elegance of the site has become a defining feature.
The wine spends about ten days on skins and is aged in small barrels for twenty
four months, 25% new.
