Glera

This is new name for the grape that makes Italy’s popular aperitivo, Prosecco. The best production zone is around the towns of Conegliano and Valdobbiadene in the Veneto. Usually made in the charmat (tank) method, some producers are experimenting with bottled fermented (method Champenoise) versions. Usually floral and fruity with notes of apple and hay, it is nearly always dry or off-dry.
