Alicante

The variety we know as Grenache is called Alicante in Tuscany and Cannonau in Sardinia. It is thought to have been brought to Sardinia in the 1400’s. Fruity with raspberry and cherry notes, low acidity and relatively high alcohol. Makes outstanding earthy reds in Sardinia, in Tuscany it is used a blending grape in the coastal region of Maremma.
