Probably the most important red variety in the South, responsible for Taurasi in Campania and Aglianco del Vulture in Basilicata. Late ripening variety that makes long lived and full bodied reds with dark berry fruit, liquorice and pepper. Sometimes referred to as ‘the Barolo of the South’.
